Using Import Search

The
Import Search
screen is laid out in multiple sections, each with a different purpose in the creation of the query.
To perform an import search, use the
Choose Source
drop-down at the top of the screen to choose an import data set to search.
Once a source is selected, move to the second section of the screen (
Display Fields
) to create the data set to be queried against. The fields displayed in
Source Columns
are determined by the selected source from the
Choose Source
filter. The
Source Columns
displays all available fields from the source table.
Next, create the data set by choosing the needed fields under
Source Columns
and moving them to
Display Columns
. There are two methods for doing this.
The first method involves clicking and dragging a
Source Column
field into the
Display Columns
box. Once the field appears in the
Display Columns
box, release the cursor.
The second method involves clicking on a Source Column, and then clicking the right arrow to move it to
Display Columns
. The left arrow can be used to return a field to
Source Columns
.
Clicking the double right arrow will move all fields from the
Source Columns
to the
Display Columns
and clicking the double left arrow will move all fields back from
Display Columns
to
Source Columns
.
To change the order of fields in
Display Columns
, click and drag the fields or use the arrows as described above. Additionally, the user has the ability to change the order of the fields selected on the
Display Column
side by using the up/down arrows or by dragging the fields.
Once all fields are selected and ordered, the created data set becomes visible in the
Report Fields
section of the
Import Search
screen. This section is located at the bottom of the screen. All newly created searches appear under the
New Search
tab. This tells the user that this is a new search that has not been saved yet. Saving searches is detailed below in the
Savings Searches
section.
Once a data set is created, use the searching capabilities available in the
Search Fields
section to search for key information contained in the data set.
To create a parameter, click
Add New Parameter
in the
Current Search Criteria
section.
Set a Search Parameter, Comparison, and Value field to enter search criteria. The selections available in the drop-down are driven by the fields selected when creating the data set. The fields displayed in the drop-down will match the column names included in the data set in the
Report Fields
section.
Once the parameter is set, click
Insert
.
If
Insert
is selected, the query will run based on the search parameters entered.
The screen will highlight the results of the query as seen in the example below.
The user can then continue to add additional search parameters following the steps above or modify the existing search parameters using
Edit
in the
Search Fields
section.
Example: The user could add a new field such as
Entry Num
to the data set. To perform this action, the user moved the
Entry Num
field from
Source Columns
to
Display Columns
. The field is then included in the data set and can be included as a search parameter using the steps described above.
