Australia lists 7 persons and 4 entities under Iran sanctions regime

Date of publication: May 15, 2026
The Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, through the Australian Sanctions Office, has announced new listings under the Autonomous Sanctions Regulations 2011 relating to Iran, designating specified persons and entities for targeted financial sanctions and/or declaring them subject to travel bans.
The new measures designate:
  • Seven persons and four entities for targeted financial sanctions and/or travel bans.
  • All listed persons and entities, whose aliases are set out in DFAT's Consolidated List, as subject to prohibitions on the use of or dealing with their "controlled assets" and on making assets available to them, directly or indirectly, without authorisation from the Minister, and listed individuals who are declared for travel bans are prevented from travelling to, entering or remaining in Australia.
This notice sets out the latest designations made by the Minister for Foreign Affairs under item 4 of regulation 6 of the Autonomous Sanctions Regulations 2011 in relation to Iran, covering contributions to Iran's nuclear or missile programs, human rights abuses in Iran, and assistance to Iran in threatening or undermining the sovereignty or territorial integrity of another country.

Conclusion

These listings reinforce Australia's application of targeted autonomous sanctions in response to Iran's nuclear and missile activities, internal repression and actions undermining other countries' sovereignty. Companies should ensure they screen all relevant business partners against DFAT's Consolidated List and avoid dealing with controlled assets or making assets available to listed persons or entities without an appropriate sanctions permit.
