Denied Party Screening (DPS)

Addition of new DPS lists

What it is
In Q1 of 2025, we have added coverage for the following lists:
Regulation list name
Organization name
Details
China Export Control List
Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China (MOFCOM)
The Republic of China issued the Export Control List to safeguard national security and interests. This list includes regulations related to dual-use items, critical minerals, and specific companies.
PA State Debarment List
Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
This list includes individuals and entities designated under Section 11(e) of the Act (43 P.S. ยง 165-1(e)). These individuals, firms, or any associated corporations or partnerships will be ineligible for contract awards for a period of three years from the specified date.
Benefit to you
Thomson Reuters has added two new DPS Lists, improving the extensive selection of lists you can screen against today. This continuous enhancement allows for comprehensive screening capabilities. You can manage and choose which lists to use through the DPS screening process by accessing
Advanced List Management > DPS Settings
.

Batch screening management upgrade

What it is
We've upgraded
Batch Management
for improved performance and transparency. You now receive batch execution updates every 10 minutes, with information consistent with the batch results email notifications. Batch execution history is available for 30 days. This new feature replaces the
Batch Screening Monitor
, which will be phased out in future releases.
Benefit to you
Gain enhanced visibility and stability with real-time updates and improved performance. This modernization ensures you have the most relevant information at your fingertips, boosting your efficiency and decision-making processes.

Batch screening status, statistics and notification

What it is
We've strengthened batch screening with a new auto-retry feature. If records fail during the initial screening, a new batch starts automatically. Email notifications now match final batch counts for accuracy. We've also improved the notification system, ensuring you receive updates promptly after batch completion.
Benefit to you
Experience consistent and resilient batch screenings with automated retries, minimizing disruptions. Accurate notifications keep you informed, improving your workflow efficiency. This update ensures reliable processing and timely communication, boosting your productivity.

Content enhancement โ€“ Name order

What it is
When screening names in DPS, you provide the name in standard order (first, middle, and last name). However, some list sources, such as INTERPOL, publish the names in reverse order (last, first name), and hence the match score is lower than expected because the two names are similar but in a different order. To solve this situation, we enriched our content solution by creating two new alias types:
  • Main name standard order
  • AKA standard order
This was initially done for the INTERPOL list (around 7,400 names) and will be applied to other lists soon.
Benefit to you
Experience increased screening accuracy, reducing false negatives and enhancing confidence in identifying names across different order conventions.

Expanded stopword application across all entity types

What it is
We've broadened the application of certain "ORGANIZATION" stopwords by designating them as "general," making them applicable to all entity types, including Individuals, Organizations, and unspecified entities. It is recommended to use the
Reset DPS status
option in
DPS Settings
to update pre-existing names with this enhancement, as it may impact match scores.
Benefit to you
These stopwords are now removed even when the entity type is unspecified, improving the accuracy and efficiency of screenings.

Screening optimization โ€“ Cross-language score enhancement

What it is
We've adjusted the match score calculation for cross-language comparisons to align more closely with same-alphabet comparisons. Previously, cross-language comparisons often resulted in higher-than-usual match scores.
Benefit to you
This enhancement reduces false positive matches caused by cross-language names, improving the reliability and accuracy of screenings.

Screening with new ORGANIZATION stopwords

What it is
Added new ORGANIZATION stopwords (words to be excluded of names as part of normalization process):
  • joint stock
  • jointstock
  • Company
  • Association
  • Co.
  • Enterprise
  • OJSC
  • OAO in Russian and English
  • OOO in Russian and English
  • LNG
  • LLP - Limited Liability Partnership
  • GmbH in German and English
Benefit to you
Stopwords are removed both from searched and matched names to avoid comparing unnecessary words that may increase or decrease the final score. To know more about this process, access the Normalization article in the Help and Support.
