Packaging [PG26]

After completing and saving the
Temperature [PG25]
tab, proceed to the
Packaging [PG26]
tab. The
Packaging [PG26]
tab correlates with the PG26 Record of the PGA Message Set. This is a conditional PGA input record that provides data pertaining to the packaging method and materials for the cargo.

Links
Description
Save
Save any data that was added or changed since the most recent save in Edit Mode.
Cancel
Discard all changes made after the most recent save. The tab will revert to Read Only Mode.
Edit
Activate Edit Mode so any necessary additions/modifications can be made to the open record. This action will only be made available once one or more records exist on the tab.
Add New
Add a new record. This action will only be made available once one or more records exist on the tab.
Delete
Delete the selected record. This action will only be made available once one or more records exist on the tab.
If PG26 data is required, enter the appropriate information in the fields listed below:

Description
Qualifier
This code identifies the level of packaging for the product: outermost (largest=1) packages to the innermost (smallest=6) packages. If only reporting one level, show the total quantity for the item and report it as level 1.
Quantity
The total quantity for the packaging level.
Level UOM
The unit of measure for the packaging level.
  • FDA or APHIS Core
    :
    The Unit of Measure must come from Appendix PGA (FDA Units of Measure for Packaging Containers).
    For FDA, use those same codes for all packaging levels except the lowest level. The lowest level will use units listed in Appendix PGA (FDA Units of Measure for the Base Unit).
  • Other Agencies
    :
    The Unit of Measure must come from Appendix B in the ACS ABI CATAIR (Shipping/Packaging Unit Codes), Appendix C in the ACS ABI CATAIR (Tariff Abbreviations), and associated with PG26 in Appendix PGA.
Identifier
The specific identifier on the packaging such as dates or codes (marks and numbers). This does not include lot number, which is specified elsewhere.
Method
The method used in packing the product. Valid methods are listed in Appendix B in the ACS ABI CATAIR (Shipping/Packaging Unit Codes).
Material
The type of material used to package the product (e.g. wooden crates, metal boxes, glass bottles).
Filler
The type of filler used within the package (e.g. hay, paper, plastic).
After all required data has been entered, click
Save
and proceed to the
Containers
tab.

If you do not click
Save
before you move to the next tab, you will lose all of the data under the tab and will then need to re-enter it.
