Change whitepaper detail format in an 1120 consolidation

Learn about the whitepaper detail print formats available for an 1120 consolidation and how to select each format.
An 1120 consolidation offers 3 whitepaper detail print formats: Columnar Form print, Stacked print, and Cross-Tie print. Each format presents consolidation detail differently.

Columnar form print

Columnar form print produces detail that mimics the tax form using a columnar layout. The application provides columnar print for the following forms:
  • Form 1120, Pages 1-5
  • Form 4562
  • Form 4626
  • Form 4797
  • Form 8810
  • Form 8825
  • Form 8826
  • Form 8903
  • Schedule D
This format always consists of 2 pages. The 1st page contains 4 columns: combined, eliminations, adjustments, and the consolidated amount. The 2nd page contains a column for each company that makes up the combined column on the 1st page.
When subconsolidations exist, the 2nd page prints differently depending on which sub-option you choose:
  • Standard print
: Displays only the subconsolidation totals.
  • Look-Through print
: Displays each legal entity within the subconsolidation separately, along with its own amounts.
To select Standard or Look-Through print:
  1. Go to
    Organizer
    Consolidated Returns
Step 3 - Select Print and Calculation
    Detail Print Options
    tab.
  2. Select either
    Standard
    or
    Look-Through
    print.

Stacked print

Stacked print displays whitepaper detail in a portrait orientation, showing each consolidation member's detail one following the other. The application prints companies in the order in which you listed them on the
What to Consolidate
screen, with the parent company always appearing first.
Stacked print is the default format; the application uses it automatically if you make no other selection.

Cross-tie print

Cross-tie print displays whitepaper detail for each consolidation member in a columnar, spreadsheet-style format rather than stacking amounts one following the other. Like columnar form print, cross-tie print consists of 2 pages: the 1st page shows the combined, eliminations, adjustments, and consolidated amounts, and the 2nd page shows each amount that makes up the combined amount.
To select Cross-Tie print:
  1. Go to
    Organizer
    Consolidated Returns
Step 3 - Select Print and Calculation
    Detail Print Options
    tab.
  2. Select
    Cross-Tie
    print.
