Can't create federal extension e-file for consolidated return

This error occurs when you try to create a 1120 federal extension e-file before consolidating the return. This typically happens because the parent locator is missing from, or was deleted from, the Consolidated Return List.
To resolve this issue, restore the parent locator and re-consolidate the return:
  1. Go to
    Organizer
    Consolidated Returns
    Step 1 - What to Consolidate
    Consolidated Return List
    . Replace the deleted parent locator if necessary, or re-rollover the locator. The consolidation must have an active parent locator to consolidate.
  2. Go to
    Organizer
    Consolidated Returns
    Step 1 - What to Consolidate
    Consolidated Return List
     and select
    Subsidiary Listing Complete
    .
  3. Go to
    Organizer
    Consolidated Returns
    Step 4 - Review Preconsol Checklist
    Out of balance and compute pending
     and select
    Compute all subsidiaries now
    .
  4. Go to
    Organizer
    Consolidated Returns
    Step 5 - Consolidate!
    Consolidation
     and select
    Consolidate
    .
  5. After consolidating, create the Federal Extension e-file.
