Combined NOL
Since California is a combined state and not a consolidated state, the application of NOL is on an entity-by-entity basis.
For example, if the parent has $200,000 in NOLs but only $150,000 in income, only $150,000 will flow to the form 100 as an NOL deduction. The remaining $50,000 isn't allowed to be applied to any of the other subsidiary returns.
