Form 40 print requirements

Form 40 prints when the correct return/entity type is selected and North Dakota isn't suppressed in
Print Options
.
To print Form 40, Corporation Income Tax Return:
  1. Go to
    Organizer
    General Information
    Basic Return Information
    .
  2. Go to the
    Return / Entity Type
    section.
  3. Select
    1120 – U.S. Corporation
    for
    Return Type
    .
  4. Select
    Corporate Single Entity
    for
    Entity Type
    .
  5. Go to
    Organizer
    States
    Common State
    .
  6. Select
    Print Options
    , then
    Print Suppression
    .
  7. Go to the
    Suppression MD-RI
    tab.
  8. Make sure
    North Dakota
    is cleared in the
    State Forms
    column.
  9. Do a full recompute and print the return.

NOL statement

The North Dakota NOL statement prints only when specific conditions are met and numeric NOL amounts exist.
Follow these steps to verify the data and understand when the statement generates.
  1. Verify that the
    Total
    field in the
    Amount utilized in Current Year
    column contains an actual numeric amount for at least 1 member. The field can't contain the word
    NONE
    , it must be a numeric value.
  2. Go to
    Tax Forms
    States
    North Dakota
    40 - Corporation Income Tax Return
    40, Page 1
    line 12
    .
  3. Drill down, then drill down on the 1st line for
    NOL carryover as calculated
    .
  4. Sub view on the
    Total
    field for the
    Amount utilized in Current Year
    column to verify the data.
  5. If no NOL exists, the statement isn't necessary and won't print.
