F1040-429-02 e-file error
Error
The e-File database indicates a First-Time Homebuyer Installment Payment is due for the Spouse SSN. Include an amount on Form 1040, Schedule 4, FirstTimeHmByrRepaymentAmt and attach Form 5405 if required. (rule F1040-429-02)
Cause
The IRS's e-file database shows the spouse owes an amount for Form 5405 - First Time Homebuyer Installment Payment.
Solution
Check your data entry:
- In the Organizer, selectCredits.
- Go to theRepayment of the First-Time Homebuyer Creditscreen.
- Verify any information you've entered on the screen.
If you believe it's correct or the spouse doesn't owe anything, contact the IRS e-Help desk at (866)255-0654 or paper file the return.
