IND-300-01 e-file error

The IRS tightened e-filing rules for decedent returns due to fraud. When a court-appointed representative is selected, the return needs to be paper filed since e-file can't include the court appointment document.

Error message

Rule Number: IND-300-01 Error Message: If RefundAmt in the return has a non-zero value and the filing status of the return is not married filing jointly and PrimaryDeathDt has a value, then [ Form 1310 must be present in the return ] unless a binary attachment with Description "Personal Representative Court Certificate" is present.

Solution

  1. Go to
    Organizer
    Informational Forms
    Deceased Refund
    Taxpayer Deceased Refund
    Taxpayer Deceased Refund
    tab.
  2. In the
    PERSON CLAMING REFUND
    section, select either option
    B
    or
    C
    .
  3. Unmark the
    Personal Representative
    checkbox.
  4. Enter the
    Other/court-appointed person info - Use with option B/C in the mandatory field above
    .
  5. Do a full recompute, then recreate the e-file.

The only allowable e-file option on Form 1310 for a single individual is
Option C: Person, other than A or B, claiming refund for the decedent's estate
