Error: The field 'RoutingNumber' with value '0' data is missing
This validation error appears for California extension-only e-files when bank information isn't entered for direct debit payment.

Solution 1
To clear the California extension diagnostic:
- Go to .
- Enter the following fields:
- Account number
- Routing number
- Date to be debited
- Amount
- Do a full recompute, then recreate the e-file.
note
- California only expects an extension if a payment needs to be made.
- When filing electronically, the payment must be made using direct debit.
- There isn't a way to clear the diagnostics if no payment is being made.

- Go to .
- Go to theSection Confirm/Updatesection.
- Make a selection for 1 of the following:
- Taxpayer confirmation of prior year bank account type, routing and accounting numbers
- Add new (or update existing) account type, routing and account numbers
- Do a full recompute, then recreate the e-file.
