K-1-004 e-file error

This error occurs when a partner's address is missing the city field in the Direct K-1 import data.

Error message

Federal Schedule K-1-004: Partner is missing City in the partner address

Solution

The correction needs to be made in the Direct K-1 import file. Make sure it has a complete address for each partner, then re-import the file.
  1. Go to
    Organizer
    Partner Information
    Common Partner Data
    Direct K-1 Import
    Delete all Direct K-1
    .
  2. Edit the Direct K-1 import file to add the missing city for each affected partner. Verify all partners have complete address information including city, state/province, and zip/postal code.
  3. Go to
    Returns Processing
    Import/Export
    Import
    Direct K-1
    Import
    .
  4. Perform a full recompute and recreate the e-file.

Solution 2: Alternative method

You can also update the city directly in the return:
  1. Go to
    Tax Forms
    Federal
    Direct K-1 Import
    DK-1 Partner Review
    DK-1 Columnar Review
    .
  2. Select the
    Partner Information
     tab.
  3. In the
    Partner Foreign Address
     section, enter the missing city in the
    CITY
     column for each affected partner.
  4. Perform a full recompute and recreate the e-file.
note
If you're using a K-1 aggregation file, review the aggregation file for missing address information for each partner (US or Foreign), then re-upload the corrected file.
