If the partner is an individual, format the number as a Social Security number.

Make sure none of the names have special characters.
For Aggregation Files, make sure the FEIN is present and partner first/last names have no special characters and are correctly formatted.
For direct K-1 imports on composite returns, verify the import file contains the actual Social Security number or EIN (not ‘applied for’) for each partner.
Recreate the e-file and resubmit.
