Error: The field 'EIN' with value '[ENTERED_VALUE]' data format is not correct

This validation error occurs when the
Tax Matters Partner
EIN or Social Security number is missing or incorrectly formatted on Massachusetts Form 3.

Error message

1. Validation failed on [FILE_ID]: Form: FormMAForm3[1][@documentId='MAForm3] SignHere[1]/PartnerID[1]/EIN[1] Requirement: Type for Employer Identification No. - 9 digits Error: The field 'EIN' with value '', data is missing. Element Name: EIN XPath: //FormMAForm3[@documentId='MAForm3']/SignHere[1]/PartnerID[1]/EIN[1] XML Fragment: Field Key: 0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0 Error Code: [CODE] Error Reason: '' violates pattern constraint of '[0-9]{9}'. The element '{http://www.irs.gov/efile}EIN' with value '' failed to parse.

Solution

  1. Go to
    Organizer
    States
    Common State
    General Information
    Basic Return Information
    Other Information tab
    , Massachusetts row.
  2. In
    Column J Tax Matters Partner SSN
    , enter either the EIN or Social Security number. The value has to be exactly 9 digits.
  3. Do a full recompute, then recreate the e-file.
note
Column J may only show to Systems Administrators or users with specific access permissions. If Column J isn't showing, contact your Systems Administrator.
