Reject code 9500 "Missing IRS file" occurs when e-filing a 1120 federal extension because both the federal e-file and federal extension e-file are enabled at the same time.

Solution

Both the federal e-file and federal extension can't be enabled at the same time. To resolve this error, ensure correct e-file enablement and recreate the extension e-file.
  1. Go to
    Organizer
    Federal E-file
    Enable
    . Make sure the
    Enable federal e-file
     checkbox is cleared.
  2. Go to
    Organizer
    Federal E-file Extension
    Enable Extension
    . Make sure the
    Enable federal extension e-file
     checkbox is marked.
  3. Do a full recompute, then recreate the e-file.
