F7004-904-01 e-file error
This rejection occurs when the tax year ending date in the electronic file doesn't match the IRS e-file database.
Error message
Form 7004, the tax year ending date ( TaxPeriodEndDt specified in the Return Header) must match the data in the e-file database unless one of the checkboxes - "InitialReturnInd", "Final ReturnInd", "AccountingPeriodChangeInd", "ConsolidatedRetToBeFiledInd" or "OtherInd" is checked or if the ExtensionReturnCd has the value "02" (Form 706-GS(T)) or "08" (Form 1042).
Solution
This rejection occurs when information in the IRS database doesn't match information in the electronic file. The problem is usually with 1 or more of the following:
- Tax period ending date
- Return type
- EIN
- Verify that the EIN and return type are correct. Go to tab to double check the EIN.
- Contact the IRS e-file help desk to verify the information in their database matches the information in your e-file.
