Error: The field 'EIN' with value “[ENTERED_VALUE]”, data format is not correct

This e-file validation error occurs when the Employer Identification Number (EIN) is missing, incomplete, or doesn't contain the required 9 digits for consolidated return members.

Validation failed on [FILE_ID]: Form: IRS1120ScheduleG[1][@documentId='IRS1120SchG] IndividualInformation[1]/EIN[1] Description: Identifying number LineNumber: Part II Sch G Line (ii) Requirement: Type for Employer Identification No. - 9 digits Error: The field 'EIN' with value '[EIN]', data format is not correct. Solution 1

  1. Go to
    Organizer
    General Information
    Basic Return Information
    Entity Information tab
    .
  2. Subview on the
    EIN
    field and make sure it is populated in all members of the consolidation.
  3. Consolidate the TopCon.
  4. Recreate the e-file.

  1. Go to
    Organizer
    General Information
    Questions
    Schedule K
    .
  2. Select the
    If yes, provide detail
    hyperlink for
    question 4a
    .
  3. Make sure all entities listed in the
    line 4a
    and
    line 4b
    sections have an EIN populated or missing reason selected.
  4. Subview the fields to confirm the EIN or missing reason is filled out for the lower members.
  5. Consolidate the TopCon, then recreate the e-file.
