Rule ILHeader-500-2 e-file error
You'll get this e-file error when the Illinois 1120 return tax period dates fall outside the valid range or exceed 53 weeks.
Error message
IL Return Header (Rule ILHeader-500-2): If IL-Header TaxPeriodEndDate is not between 12/25/24 and 12/25/25, or IL-Header TaxPeriodBeginDt to TaxPeriodEndDt is greater than 53 weeks, you have filed an incorrect schema version.
This error occurs when:
- The tax period end date isn't between 12/25/24 and 12/25/25
- The tax period spans more than 53 weeks
The dates 12/25/24 and 12/25/25 indicate that this rule applies to tax year 2024 returns. If your return's end date falls outside this range, the Illinois Department of Revenue system flags it as using an incorrect schema version.
