Error: Field ‘TaxablePeriod’ with value ‘[ENTERED_VALUE]’ data format is not correct

This validation error occurs on Montana 1120 NOL Schedule when the TaxablePeriod date field uses an incorrect format during e-file validation.

Error message

Validation failed on [FILE_ID]: Form: SchNolCIT[1] CorpNOLApp[1]/CarryForwardDeductions[1]/TaxablePeriod[1] Description: Taxable Period for NOL ReferenceNumber: A13055 Requirement: Base type for a date Error: The field 'TaxablePeriod' with value '', data format is not correct. Element Name: TaxablePeriod XPath: /ReturnState[1]/ReturnDataState[1]/SchNolCIT[1]/CorpNOLApp[1]/CarryForwardDeductions[1]/TaxablePeriod[1] XML Fragment: Field Key: 129,796,128,0,0,0,0,0,0 Error Code: [CODE] Error Reason: Error parsing '' as date datatype. Solution

  1. Go to
    Organizer
    States
    Common State
    Basic Return Information
    Entity Information tab
    Montana row
    .
  2. Enter the date in MM/DD/YYYY format in
    Date Qualified in State column (I)
    .
  3. Do a full recompute, then recreate the e-file.
  4. Go to
    Tax Forms
    States
    Montana
    CIT - Corporation Income Tax Return
    CIT, Page 13
    .
  5. Select
    See MT parent Details
    .
  6. Enter dates in YYYY-MM-DD format (include the dashes) in columns 6–11.
  7. Do a full recompute, then recreate the e-file.
note
Column 5 accepts MM/DD/YYYY and automatically converts to YYYY-MM-DD in the XML. Columns 6–11 uses a description format and doesn't convert automatically. Enter the dates in YYYY-MM-DD format for those columns.
