Error: The attribute 'referenceDocumentId' with value 'BinaryAttach BinaryAttachN1 BinaryAttachN2', data format is not correct

This validation error occurs when e-filing a Virginia 1120 return with multiple PDF attachments. Virginia only accepts required attachments, and the referenceDocumentId attribute can't contain space-separated values.

Solution

Virginia only accepts required attachments. If you need to include additional attachments, combine them into 1 PDF and attach it under Other Attachments as Other.pdf.
