when you filed the federal return from the same binder that you use to file the state return. Attach a federal XML created for State (State copy)

Attach a federal XML created just for State (State Copy)
when you filed the federal return from a different binder and the state accepts a State Copy. The application creates a federal attachment from the binder that contains the current state return. The application runs limited XML validations on the State Copy. Clear any federal XML validation errors that the application identifies.
The Federal Copy list shows this option only for states that accept a State Copy.

when you filed the federal return from a different locator or binder and the state doesn't accept a State Copy. File and receive acceptance for the federal XML in the other locator or binder before you attach it to the state return.
shows 2 folders for the state return if the application has created a State Copy. In some cases, the e-file Viewer shows the State Copy folder automatically.
Some states need only specific federal XML data for a subsidiary's single-company state return. Attach the federal XML from the locator or binder to include the information needed.
