File format for use with Return XML

About the XML file
The first 3 rows of a Return XML file are:

- The first 2 rows are mandatory and can't be changed. These rows inform the system what to expect and the standards followed.
- ReturnData documentCount="1" = indicates data for 1 return.
- X1234L = locator number. To export data for this return and import into another locator, you can use Notepad to change the locator number you want to import this data into.
- The flag "H" informs the system to delete all mapped data that exists in a specific document ID and import data from the file. A use case for this is if Form 2106 exists in the import file, then all mapped data in the Form 2106 folder will be deleted prior to import.
- You can modify records after the header.

Preparers should use build reports for cross-referencing values. Programmers should use schema files to learn the XML elements and rules for the data to properly structure field length, field type, field precision, etc.
