Create an extension for 1120 or 1065 state returns
The process for printing an extension and its filing instructions for state returns is the same for most 1120 and 1065 states.

Some states require a payment when filing an extension. Review the state's guidance if additional information is needed.
- In theOrganizer, selectStatesthenCommon State.
- SelectEstimates and Extensions, thenEstimates and Extensions
- On theExtensiontab, select theOn Extensioncheckbox in columnBin the row for the state you're extending.
- If you're making a payment with the extension, enter an amount in theTentative Tax on Extension FormcolumnC.
- To print extension filing instructions:
- In theOrganizerselectLetters and Filing Instructions.
- SelectGeneral Options.
- Select an option (other than suppress all letters) in theSelect which letters you wish to print (mandatory)section.
- Do a full recompute and print the extension.
If the extension isn't printing, make sure forms aren't suppressed in . Note for 1120 returns you'll need to use the tabs to find your state.
