Import the NAIC Annual Statement
You'll need a full insurance return license to import the Annual Statement.
Before you import the Annual Statement file into the system, make sure the file meets these requirements:
- The file is .TXT format.
- The entire path (including the filename) where it's saved is less than or equal to 45 characters.
- The filename must be as follows:xxxxx_13_?_YYYY_o_m_1_00_na_s.txtwhere:
- xxxxxis the 5-digit NAIC company code
- ?is eitherPfor PC, orLfor Life.
- YYYYis the Year.
You can import NAIC data directly from the Annual Statement file to the appropriate place in the tax application. However, only certain pages, and not the entire statement, are transferred into the Annual Statement Organizer because the rest is not needed. If additional data is desired, you can use the Electronic Organizer to add this information.
- InOrganizerselectGeneral Information, thenBasic Return information.
- Go to theEntity Informationtab and select one of the Annual Statement options as theData Source.
- Do a full recompute.Once the recompute is finished, you'll have aNAIC Annual Statement Transferscreen in the Organizer tree.
- On the Organizer tab, selectNAIC Annual Statement Transfer.
- Verify that the path and filename, transfer format, and filing year are correct. You need to be able to fit the entire path, including the TXT extension inside the field (45 characters).
- SelectBrowse.
- Find the import file and selectOpen.
- Select theTransfer Formatdropdown. This lists the available transfers.
- Select theYeardropdown. Prior years are available for life and separate account annual statements and LRD transfers.
- SelectTransfer, then selectOK.
Once data is transferred, there will be an Organizer screen for that annual statement below the
NAIC Annual Statement Transfer
screen. This screen is for review purposes only. Data should appear in blue and should not be manually adjusted on this screen. All changes to data transferred into an annual statement screen should be entered in the applicable PC Electronic Organizer or Life Electronic Organizer. The only exception is if there is no electronic organizer input that corresponds to an item in an annual statement screen. In those rare cases, the input should be changed on the annual statement screen. Any item that requires a manual change on annual statement input should be reviewed carefully to ensure it is correctly reported on the tax return.
