Enter data into State A&A Workpapers in TAS
State workpapers includes State A&A Workpapers and State TI Workpapers.
There are 2 methods of State A&A Workpaper data entry:
- Manual - Enter data directly in the white workpaper cells.
- Import - Export a blank customized A&A template, enter A&A data into the template and then import the file.
To enter or review workpaper data:
- Go to theTax Accounting System (TAS),State Workpapers,State A&A Workpaper, and thenState A&A.
- Enter or change amounts in the white fields for the control total and each applicable jurisdiction. You can also choose to import this data from a spreadsheet (.xlsx file).
- If applicable, selectEnable or disable throwback for the current cell. When this is activated, theThrowbackandUnallocatedcolumns will increase by the amount entered in that cell.
- TheUnallocatedcolumn calculates only when an amount's in the Control Total. It's the control total value decreased by the values entered for each jurisdiction that's not a throwback cell.
- The Everywhere column equals the sum of all jurisdictions less throwback plus unallocated amounts.
- SelectSavewhen finished.note
- All the values you enter should be positive, regardless of whether they're debits or credits.
- Enter a negative number only as an exception, when the value should be handled as a contra amount.
- If the item's incorrectly entered as a negative value (in other words, the item wasn't a contra amount), the value transfers incorrectly to the system, and the resulting calculations will be incorrect.
- Each system-defined category has a default implied sign.
- The user-defined categories use the sign assigned to them when they were created (the default's the sign of the category under which they were created). The system calculates workpaper data based on the implied sign of the category.
