SCHK1(568)-101 e-file error

This error occurs when a Schedule K-1 partner entity type doesn't match the required ID number format for California 1065 returns.

Error message

SCHK1(568)-101: If Partner Name %S on Schedule K-1 entity type is not "Individual" or "Estate/Trust", then ID number must be EIN. If no ID number, enter Foreign Non-US, Applied for or Other Reason.

Solution 1: Verify partner entity type and correct ID number

  1. Go to
    Organizer
    Partner Information
    Partner by Partner Data
    [Partner Name]
    Partner Information
    .
  2. Verify the partner entity type and make sure the ID number matches the required format:
    • Individual:
      The ID number needs to be Social Security number (XXX-XX-XXXX).
    • Trust
      : The ID number can be Social Security number or EIN.
    • All other entity types (Corporation, Partnership, LLC)
      : The ID number has to be EIN (XX-XXXXXXX).
  3. If no ID number is available, select
    Applied For
    .
  4. Do a full recompute and recreate the e-file.

Solution 2: Correct the K-1 aggregation file

If you're using K-1 aggregation for California, the correction needs to be made in the aggregation file.
  1. Go to
    Organizer
    States
    California
    E-file
    K-1 Aggregation
    Summary
    .
  2. Review the attached K-1 aggregation file for each partner listed in the diagnostic.
  3. Correct the entity type and ID number format in the aggregation file:
    • Individual:
      Use the Social Security number format (XXX-XX-XXXX).
    • Trust
      : Use the Social Security number or EIN.
    • All other entity types (Corporation, Partnership, LLC)
      : Use EIN format (XX-XXXXXXX).
  4. Re-attach the corrected K-1 aggregation file.
  5. Do a full recompute and recreate the e-file.
