Error: CT 1065 part 2 line 8 apportionment value

Connecticut rejects CT 1065 e-file submissions when Part 2, line 8 shows [AMOUNT] or NONE while lines 1-7 are blank.

Error message

CT 1065 Part 2 reject: According to the state of CT, if an amount of $0 (or NONE) is shown on CT 1065 part 2, line 8, then at least $1 will need to be shown on any of the lines through 1 through 6 as well as showing a total of at least $1 on line 7 of CT 1065 part 2. This is due to the state of CT internal processing system which defaults to 1.0 if lines 1 through 7 are blank, and so amounts will be needed on lines 1 through 7 in the Everywhere column to allow line 8 to be $0.
note
  • Connecticut's processing system defaults line 8 to 1.0 when lines 1-7 are blank. The state doesn't accept $0 or NONE on line 8 unless lines 1-7 contain values.
  • As stated on the CT-PET form: "If the PE carries on business only within CT, enter 1.0 on line 8 and leave the other lines blank."
  • If the partnership conducts business only within Connecticut, line 8 should show 1.0 (100% within Connecticut) with lines 1-7 left blank.

Solution

  1. Go to
    Tax Forms
    States
    Connecticut
    CT-PET
    Page 4
    Line 8
    .
  2. Make sure it shows
    NONE
    .
    1. If Line 8 shows as a blank or zero override instead, clear the override.
  3. Go to
    Organizer
    States
    Connecticut
    Allocation and Apportionment
    .
  4. In the
    Overrides
    section, remove
    NONE
    from the
    Apportionment percentage
    line.
  5. Do a full recompute, then recreate the e-file.
