Cause
North Carolina Form D-403, Page 3, Part 4, Line 18 equals Line 17 multiplied by .0525.
This happens when the all of the following are met such as Election to be a Taxed Partnership is "No or blank", Part 4 Section A "NC Resident" is "No or blank", Part 4 Section C "NC-NPA Form attached" is "No or blank", Publicly Traded Partnership box in the Header is blank & Part 4 Section B Line 17 is greater than zero then the North Carolina Form D-403 Part 4 Section C Line 18 must be equal to the Form D-403 Part 4 Line 17 multiplied by 0.0475, rounded to the nearest whole dollar.
Solution 1
- Go to , then click thePartner Informationlink.
- Line 18 can't be overridden. It must equal Line 17 multiplied by 4.50% (0.0450), rounded to the nearest whole dollar.
- Check each partner for overrides on Line 18. The reject lists the partner number with the error in the XPath section.
- Clear any overrides found on Line 18.
- Do a full recompute and recreate the North Carolina return.
For tax-exempt partners:
Mark the NC-NPA attached box as Yes
and attach a completed NC-NPA form as a PDF.note
North Carolina is strict with overrides. If you don't want to clear the override, you must paper file the North Carolina return.
Solution 2
- In Organizer, selectStates, thenNorth Carolina.
- Go toNonresident Partner Affirmation.
- If the partner has anXmark in theNC-NPA Activecolumn this means the NC-NPA is attached.
- If NC -NPA is attached then Form D-403 Page 3 line 18 must be zero or blank.
- Perform a full recompute and recreate the e-file.
