AL20C-038 e-file error
Rule AL20C-038: Tax Forms/State/Alabama/20C - Tax Return/20C, Page 1, "Common parent Corporation" section at top of page 1. The common parent FEIN entered here must be that of the federal consolidated return submitted to and accepted by the IRS that is associated with this return. It must match the FEIN entered at Organizer/States/Common State/State E-file/Enable/ Create Returns/Federal Copy/Federal EIN column. All details entered on the federal copy tab must be those of the federal consolidated return submitted to and accepted by the IRS that is associated with this return. (#14/DIAG014).
This happens when Page 1 of Alabama Form 20C – Tax Return “Common Parent Corporation” EIN is not the same as the federal consolidated return submitted to and accepted by the IRS associated with this return.
Solution
- Go toTax Forms,States, and selectAlabama.
- Go to20C-C Consolidated Tax Return,20C, Page 1, under theFederal Parent Namesection.
- This must match the FEIN entered atOrganizer,States,Common State,General Information,Basic Return Information, andFiling Statustab.
- Make sure the name is correct in Column I for Alabama.
- Go toOrganizer,States,State E-file,Enable/Create Returns,Federal Copy, andFederal EIN Column G.
- Go toStep 1 – What to Consolidate, and selectSubsidiary Listing Complete.
- Go toStep 4 – Review Preconsol Checklist, thenOut of balance and compute pendingtab.
- SelectCompute subsidiaries with compute pendingandCompute all subsidiaries now.
- Go toStep 5 – Consolidateand selectConsolidate.
- Recreate the e-file and resubmit the return.
