9974 e-file error
You get this error when the Michigan MBT return is submitted as a linked state return, but the federal return hasn’t been accepted.
Error message
Michigan MBT has been submitted as a Linked State. Federal Return must have a electronic Status of "ACCEPTED". Federal return has not been submitted or having a rejected Status. So, State e-file rejected
Solution
- Submit the federal return and wait for it to be accepted.
- After the federal return is accepted, resubmit the Michigan MBT return.
- If rejected, correct and resubmit the federal return. Wait for acceptance before resubmitting the Michigan MBT return.
