Trust and fiduciaries
Follow these rules to enter name control information for trusts and fiduciaries:
- If only an individual's listed, use the 1st 4 characters of the family name.tipDon't include any part of the word “trust” in the name control.
- When a corporation, association, or endowment appears in the trust name, use the 1st 4 characters of that entity's name.
- For numbered trusts and GNMA Pools, use the 1st 4 digits of the trust number (ignoring leading zeros and trailing letters). If fewer than 4 digits exist, add letters from GNMA to complete the name control.
- If the trust is a Clifford trust, use the last 4 characters of the family name.
Estates
Follow these rules to enter name control information for estates:
- The name control is the 1st 4 characters of the deceased individual's family name.
- “Estate” can precede or follow the decedent's name on the name line.
