Binders
Binders represent year-specific data particular to an entity.
All binders for the same entity use data from a common database. The system uses the year to implement the corresponding data entry screens, workpapers, and computations for the binder.
Binder properties
Open a binder and select
Properties
. Use binder properties to establish settings for your binder.note
Once you save the binder, you can't change the return type. If you need to change the return type, you can create a new binder.
Related binders
The Related tab in binder properties identifies and relates prior year binders to current year binders. Relating binders enables the Tax Accounting System (TAS) to track historical data including balance sheet amounts and state allocation and apportionment.
For international binders, the prior year top consolidation binder is stored for each foreign legal entity to document the rollover source of balance/historical amounts for earnings and profits, qualified deficits, and Subpart F recapture.
