Example sharing data across consolidated returns

Use case:
Top consolidation and subsidiary members filing a consolidated federal and California returns and 1 subsidiary filing a separate return for New Jersey.
For this example, members include:
  • Top consolidation: ABC, Inc.
  • Subsidiary members:
    • Company A Sub
    • Company B Sub
    • Company C Sub
    • Company D Sub
  1. Go to
    Tools
    , and then
    Binder Identification
    .
  2. Select a tax year, then select the following:
    1. Select
      Combined/Consolidated
      for the
      Federal
      and
      California
      row.
    2. Select
      Separate
      for the
      New Jersey
      row.
    3. Select
      Next
      .
  3. For the top consolidation and subs A, B, and C, select federal and California, then
    Next
    .
  4. For sub D, select New Jersey, and then
    Finish
    .
Results
  • Subsidiaries A, B, C, and D will all be selected automatically for federal and California. Integration with ONESOURCE Income Tax, and other ONESOURCE products will then know where to get the shared data for this filing group.
  • Subsidiary D will be where these features get shared data for New Jersey.
