Sideload the add-in in Excel for the web
Sideload the add-in manually in your browser session using a manifest file and Excel for the web.
Make sure you have the following:
- The add-in manifest file (manifest.xml) saved on your local device.
- Access to Excel for the web, for example, through Office.com, SharePoint, or OneDrive.
- Go to Excel for the web and open an existing workbook or create a new one.
- On the Excel toolbar, select theHometab, then selectAdd-ins.noteOn some versions, select instead.
- On theOffice Add-inscreen, selectMore Add-ins.
- SelectUpload My Add-in.noteThis option typically appears at the end of the list or in theManage my Add-insdropdown.
- On theUpload Add-inscreen, selectBrowse.
- Go to the location where you saved themanifest.xmlfile.
- Select the file, thenOpen.
- SelectUploadon theUpload Add-inscreen.If the manifest is valid, a confirmation message appears and the add-in becomes active. You can now interact with the Workpapers NG add-in in Excel for the web.
Be aware of the following after sideloading the add-in:
- If you clear your browser cache, switch browsers, or sign out and back in, you must sideload the add-in again.
- If themanifest.xmlfile is updated, you must update the add-in manually by sideloading it again.
