Add state TI subcategories
You can add user-defined subcategories manually or by import under existing categories in the system.
We recommend that you follow these rules when creating user-defined categories:
- You can create up to 500 subcategories, total, for the State Modifications workpaper.
- Subcategories are defined via a 3 t to 12 digit alphanumeric character code.
- The first 2-digits of the code are system-defined and correspond to the category under which the subcategory's set up. The remaining characters are user-defined and can be comprised of numbers or letters or both.
- The length of the description is limited to 50 characters.
- Subcategories rollover from year to year.
To create a subcategory:
- SelectCharts,State Taxable Income, and thenCategories.
- Choose whether the category will be anAddition,Subtraction, orAdjustmentto federal income.
- Select+to add the category.
- Assign the alphanumeric code and description, thenSave.
