Automatic calculations defined for State TI Forms Mapping
The forms mapping charts have colored indicators to show how each line on the state workpaper's determined.
Type of calculations:
- Blank- Refers to lines that have no automatic calculations.
- Federal- The amount carries from the federal return to the state return if the state's activated in the Organizer.
- State- Refers to fields that are automatically calculated for the state from the Common State area.
- Override- Indicates that a particular tax form line comes from a schedule that requires activity detail entered in the Organizer or a unique computation's performed on another schedule. You must enter this detail in the Organizer or use the State TI Workpapers to override the schedule.
Federal
Amounts carry from the federal return to the state return unless:
- A subcategory has been assigned in the Forms Mapping chart for the state return type (income tax or financial), and data's been entered in the data entry workpaper for this line in the binder, or
- There's an override for the federal amount entered in the state Organizer with or without a valid subcategory code, or
- The option to toggle off automatic calculations from federal has been selected in the Enterprise Control Panel (ECP) by going toTools,Enterprise Control Panel,States,State TI Workpapers, and then selecting the applicable entities and binders.
Examples of federal adjustments include such items as interest from US obligations, foreign dividend gross-up, federal depletion, Subpart F income, and the work opportunity credit.
State
Override fields in the state Organizer screens are the target fields for the State TI data entry workpapers. If a state modification/adjustment's selected as an override in the Forms Mapping legend, it'll always appear in the Organizer/Override line in the Single-State Review Workpaper.
