About the State Taxable Income Workpaper system

The State Taxable Income (TI) Workpaper gives you an option to view and compute State TI Workpapers for multiple binders. The workpaper's designed to show a list of entities for a single taxable income calculation.
The State Taxable Income (TI) Workpaper system gives the flexibility to create up to 500 custom subcategories to use for state modifications and apportioned income adjustments. It allows you to control each aspect of the flow of data to the tax return.
Import and export capabilities are available for all aspects of the setup process – including setting up subcategories, assigning them to applicable jurisdictions, and setting up Forms Mapping charts used for transferring data to and from the tax return. These capabilities are available in both individual binder and batch modes.
State Taxable Income Workpapers for State Tax Expense and Payments of Tax are also part of the system. As with all taxable income workpapers, amounts entered as zeros transfer a value of “none” to the Organizer. You must activate the states in Organizer and compute the binder in order for the jurisdictions to appear in the review workpapers.
The resulting data and review worksheets in the Tax Accounting System (TAS) will be the same when they're done. You must map all the subcategories correctly to specific lines on the state tax return forms. Turn off automatic tax adjustments that flow to the review screens and don't use organizer/override entries.
The system contains certain specific tax form lines that don't have codes associated with them. If any of these are used, they appear as an override on the workpaper.
note
This system's applicable for 1120 Corporations only.

State taxable income for insurance returns

The system also has State TI Workpapers for insurance binders. New York, Mississippi, Michigan, Oregon have insurance specific forms to file for insurance companies. For those states, a Forms Mapping Chart allows you to create insurance mapping charts so you can map the additions and subtractions for state modifications to the insurance forms and schedules. For other states, you can assign the income type of mapping chart to insurance binders.
