Set authority options
important
You must have the advanced configuration admin role to access authority options. This role's intended for advanced users because changing the authority options settings can dramatically alter tax results.
Authority options have several pieces of information that drive calculation results. You can use the authority options to:
- Control voluntary tax situations and tax categorizations.
- Modify the custom authority behavior by changing the value of 1 of the options associated with the template used to create the authority.
- Perform VAT overrides for custom interpretation of transaction tax laws, such as application of reverse charge rules, non-established taxable persons (NETP), exceptions and VAT groups.noteFor VAT purposes, you may want to turn off an authority if it doesn't pertain to your transaction.
important
An important concept to understand is that when you make an edit, you're creating a custom entry. If another edit's performed on the same item from the
Standard
tab, you'd now have 2 values set. The original edit's not being overwritten. It's creating another. Therefore, it's best practice to review the Custom tab first to determine a change has previously been made. You may want to overwrite the value of a custom authority instead of creating another. Proceeding to the Custom
tab will show all custom authority items that have been created. - Go toConfiguration,Authorities, and thenAuthority Options.
- Select theCustomtab to determine if the item to edit's already a custom authority. If not, return to theStandardtab.
- Select theTax Data Type.
- Enter a value forCountry if required.
- Select theCompany.
- You can make changes to theCondition,Value,Start Date, andEnd Date.
- Conditionindicates the type of transaction regarding jurisdictions, such as Domestic, Foreign, Both, South, and North.
- Valueindicates if the authority's enabled or what element's evaluated by Determination for the purpose of tax determination (registration or establishment).
- Start and End Datesindicate a specific timeframe to apply an authority.
- SelectSave.
