Zones
Determination segments the world into geographical areas called zones. This segmentation enables you to associate particular tax authorities, and therefore rules and rates, with transactions that take place in those zones.

Match addresses to zones
Determination matches zones to the address data provided in the XML input.
- IF asingle zone matchesthe submitted data, that zone's applied.
- If multiple zones match the submitted data and a default zone can be applied, aPartial Zone Tree Matchmessage is returned and the calculation continues.
- If multiple zones match the submitted data and no default can be applied, aMultiple Zone Tree Matchsevere error's returned and the calculation terminates.
- If not enough data's supplied in the address to match any zone, a severe error's returned and the calculation terminates.
note
Zone matches are exact. For example, passing the city, Roma, in a transaction won't match the city, Rome.
