About product classification
Product Classification uses Generative AI to map a customer’s product information to the correct commodity within Determination tax content. Establishing this connection is critical to ensure the tax engine delivers accurate results for transactions, whether they reference a customer product code or a commodity code.
The Product Classification process differs from the historical Product Mapping in Determination (accessible via ). Classification identifies the correct Determination code for a customer’s product, while Product Mapping stores those classification results directly within Determination. Some customers may alternatively choose to manage this mapping externally within their own systems.

Product Classification currently supports only the Determination tax content maintained within the U.S. product tree, which follows UNSPSC standards.
