What’s new

Product
Classification (4311572)
Product Classification is a Generative AI tool that helps you find the correct U.S. commodity/product codes using your master product data. Accessible to users with the
Product Classifier User
role via
Configuration
Mapping
Product Classification
, it works across all companies. You can classify products one at a time (up to
3
suggestions) or in bulk by uploading a
CSV
(up to
100 products / 20MB
) with background processing and UI alerts. Results include code details, similarity scores, and taxability views; you may select a suggestion with rationale or manually enter and validate a code. ‘Saved classifications’ are available with filters,
Excel
export
, and bulk actions. For more information, see the Help Section.
Global Product Group
The new
Global Product Group (GPG)
offers a unified tax content solution for organizations performing cross-border trade when operating across multiple countries. It streamlines product categorization through a single hierarchy using TR-defined commodity codes, removing the need to map products to different regional codes, such as UNSPSC or Harmonized. Previously, you had to manage multiple product groups for various regions, resulting in duplicative work for mapping a product category for the same product (good or service). Now, GPG offers a single list of product categories that can be used across countries, for which each product category provides one commodity code, simplifying management, and enabling accurate reporting across all locations. For further details about this feature, please refer to the
Help
article
: Configure the Global Product Group feature.
Excise Tax
Deferral
s
by using Rule Output f
eature (4373839)
The Rule Output page has been enhanced to make evaluating Deferral messages in the Tax Response easier. Three new configurable fields are now available:
Rule Output Element
(select Deferral Payment Day or O&G License Types),
Operator
(conditional dropdown with comparison operators), and
Rule Output Element Value
(text field for input values). These changes improve rule setup and dynamic messaging, and the UI now adjusts inputs based on the selected element, streamlining tax deferral management.
LAT/LONG for
International Address
es
(4665641)
A new feature is now available that uses latitude and longitude to identify and process international addresses, enabling accurate tax calculations even when standard address details are missing. For instance, entering coordinates for Vancouver, BC allows the system to automatically recognize the location and apply the correct taxes. This coordinate-based approach broadens our support for international scenarios and enhances system functionality.
Authority Option:
Registration Mask – Alphanumeric (4704798)
A new
Registration Mask – Alphanumeric
Authority Option allows flexible registration ID validation, especially for Japan. This new authority option is optional and disabled by default. When enabled, IDs beginning with a letter are validated first. For example, in Japan, T+13 alphanumeric formats take priority and are checked before other masks. Invalid formats like T+10 will fail validation immediately. Only the first alphanumeric ID is processed if multiples are submitted. These changes support compliant validation without affecting current processes.
Company Option:
Charge Line Inheritance of Source Line Data Elements (
4295832
, 4598942
)
Determination now offers the
Enable Charge Line Inheritance
Company option. When enabled, charge lines inherit data elements from their related source lines for consistent tax determination and reporting; when disabled (default), charge lines only include the data elements specified in the request.
New
Net Tax Amount
Element
at Tax Authority Level for Related Line Amounts (4470445,
4479765, 4479770)
A new
netTaxAmount
element at the Tax Authority level in line-item tax blocks adds detailed tax reporting. It shows the net tax after applying related charges like coupons or rebates, includes both document- and authority-level values (and their unrounded forms), and removes the need for downstream systems to perform these calculations.
Model Scenario:
Country Field
Text
Entry
with
Optional Selection
(4325785,
4384416)
This update enhances Model Scenario by supporting country and state inputs as 2- or 3-character codes or full names without changing existing settings. You can toggle between dropdowns and free-form fields (limits: 3 characters for country, 50 for state), with tips accessible via an info icon. Original address formats are preserved, and smart conversion aligns entries with dropdown options when possible. Tax calculation requires valid country and state data; invalid free-form entries simply disable tax calculation without error messages.
Model Scenario:
Related
Line Support
(4296507)
This release introduces the
Related line number
field in Model Scenario to support related charges, matching the functionality of Determination Original workbench. The field appears in the line level
Transaction
I
nformation
tab and is used for charges like freight that inherit tax treatment from a parent line. Only whole numbers up to 10 digits are accepted; entering other values prompts the message "Enter a whole number greater than zero." This feature has been validated for both US and international addresses to ensure consistent behavior across jurisdictions.
Zones:
Zone Details
(4311572)
This update improves the Zones page by making zone detail information visible. By using the Show/Hide Columns feature, you can add columns to display standard read-only fields such as EU/GCC membership dates, processing direction, termination details, and three-character codes—all of which are sourced from tax content.
Companies:
Active Status Field (4295595)
The Company Information page now displays and allows management of the Active status (ACTIVE Y/N), allowing you to view and manage company active status.
Exemption Certificate:
Customer
DBA
Name
and Certificate Image Path
/URL
(4493102)
The following fields are now available: Customer Fields: DBA Name and Exemption Certificate Fields: Certificate Image Path/URL. These additions provide valuable Customer context to ensure that native exemption certificate management is thorough and effective.
Standard Mappings:
Bulk Delete (4295526)
You can now delete over 100 records at once in Standard Mappings, improving efficiency when managing large datasets. This update removes the previous limit caused by the delete function's location.
Company Admin Options: Indian Currency Transaction (4551451)
A new
INDIAN CURRENCY TRANSACTION
company option controls service export tax treatment by document currency. When set to
Yes,
exports in Indian Rupees (INR currency code) use standard tax rates; foreign currency exports are zero-rated. When set to
No,
all service export transactions will be zero-rated regardless of currency code. Determination validates the document currency and this setting to determine the appropriate tax treatment.
System Message
s:
Canada
Province-Specific Tax Rounding Rules
for
Unit-Based Tobacco Tax Calculations (4590747)
A new System Message indicates the Canada province-specific rounding rule used for Unit-Based Tax Calculation Rounding. You will now be able to observe in the XML response that tax results are rounded, providing clearer insight into how rounding rules apply in their jurisdiction.

What’s changed

Application Event History
:
Comprehensive Auditing
(4312233)
Application Event History (AEH) now offers comprehensive audit tracking across all system modules, supporting better compliance, troubleshooting, and change management. This expanded audit capability supports improved compliance monitoring, troubleshooting, and change management workflows.
Note
: Currently, this feature is only available for AWS cloud customers; OCI support is planned for a future release.
Display
System Message for Province-Specific Tax Rounding Rules in Unit-Based Tobacco Tax Calculations (
4590747
)
A new system message has been implemented to improve transparency by clearly displaying the province-specific rounding rule applied based on the selected authority option. This update specifically targets the Unit-Based Tax Calculation Rounding feature, where users will now receive a clear indication that the output XML tax results are rounded. This addition provides greater clarity in tax calculations, allowing users to better understand how rounding rules are applied in their specific jurisdictions.

Pursuant to Bulgaria's accession to the euro area and in accordance with Article 24 of the Law on the Introduction of the Euro in the Republic of Bulgaria, Determination has been updated to set the end date for the Bulgarian lev (BGN) currency, effective January 31, 2026.
Authority
Registration Mask
:
Character Limit Increased from 100 to 1000 (4707344)
The registration mask format limit has increased from 100 to 1000 characters, meeting compliance needs for regions with complex or multiple valid formats. This update resolves earlier regulatory limitations.
Allocated Charge
:
Tiered and Graduated Rates
Support
(
4325691)
Allocated Charge processing now supports Tiered and Graduated rate types in addition to Basic rates. Previously, Allocated Charge with Tiered or Graduated rates could fail, but all supported rate types now process successfully and consistently without affecting existing logic.

What’s fixed

Oil & Gas: POTT Prioritiz
ed
for Delivery Terms (4312692)
The tax engine has been refined to utilize the Point of Title Transfer (POTT) assigned to Delivery Terms for Motor Fuel transactions. When a custom Delivery Term includes a designated POTT, Determination now supersedes any POTT set at the transactional level, ensuring that both tax calculations and OLTM determinations reflect the custom configuration. This enhancement enables more detailed control over tax processing for Motor Fuel transactions and supports accurate tax outcomes when unique delivery terms and title transfer points are implemented.
Oil &
Gas:
License Type Handling for Transactions Without Assigned Licenses (4464996,
4436714)
If no license type is assigned or provided for a Customer, Vendor, or Company, Determination defaults to 'No License Required'—shown in the tax response only if configured for that tax content provider. Determination now blocks inheritance of Operating License Types when there’s no parent-child relationship and ensures Operating License Types are selected solely from the tax content provider for each merchant to improve accuracy.
Brazil
:
Pauta-Based Tax Calculation for CBS and IBS Authorities (4659294)
A problem was corrected where CBS and IBS authorities calculated taxes incorrectly when ICMS-PAUTA, IPI-PAUTA, PIS-PAUTA, or COFINS-PAUTA applied. The CBS/IBS taxable basis now uses the updated ICMS tax amount from Pauta values, ensuring accurate calculations.
Zone Alias:
Province Alias Mapping for GOA (4312746)
A previous issue affecting the mapping of standard and custom province aliases for GOA has been resolved. Previously, valid aliases were identified but incorrectly associated with a NULL zone, leading to errors in tax determination. The system now correctly recognizes and processes both standard and custom-configured GOA aliases, ensuring precise province-to-zone mapping and accurate tax calculation.
Allocations:
Allocated Line-Level Tax Rate for Contributing Authorities (4457989)
When using Allocations, an issue where the displayed line-level tax rates for contributing authorities in the tax response were incorrect and has been fixed. The allocated line now accurately shows the correct tax rate, ensuring invoices reflect actual authority rates.
Exempt Amount
for
Tax on Gross with Contributing Authorities (4523312)
The exempt amount calculation now correctly includes contributing authority fees when using the
Tax on Gross and Contributing Authorities
calculation method. The exempt amount now correctly reflects the total of the gross amount plus all applicable contributing authority fees. Previously, these fees were excluded when an exemption certificate applied in Enterprise Cloud.
Colorado State Retail Delivery Fee Sign for Credit Invoices (4509422)
The Colorado State Retail Delivery Fee now shows a negative amount on credit invoices, correcting its previous positive display. This fix applies to both the UI and API responses.
Certificate Manager
:
Notifications
Sent
for New Customers (4311629)
Previously, Notification emails were not sent when new Customers were added in Certificate Manager, despite complete contact details. Updates to existing customer addresses triggered notifications as expected. The issue is now fixed.
Certificate Manager:
Copy
Certificate
and
Original Record Images (4311910)
A problem was found where deleting an image from a copied exemption certificate also removed it from the original source certificate, risking the loss of vital documents. This has been fixed so changes to copies no longer affect the originals.
Certificate
Manager
:
Tabs
A
ccessible for Limited Use Updates (4323226)
In previous versions, when attempting to update a certificate to a Limited Use status, an issue impacted the ability to access tabs 2 and 3 in the Certificates section. This prevented you from completing necessary certificate modifications. This issue has been resolved.
Certificate Manager: Expiration Dates Stay When Updating International Certificates (4436260)
Editing authority levels on an international Certificate—mainly Canadian ones—caused expiration dates to be deleted from both the user interface and database. US certificates were not impacted. This problem has been fixed so expiration dates remain during updates.
Exemption
Certificate
:
Successful
Save When Updating
Certificate
Expiration Date (4407921)
Previously, you may have encountered an error when updating the Expiration Date on a Certificate, especially if you removed Certificate Notes, which blocked valid changes to certificate details. This problem has now been resolved.

What’s coming

Error Messages Missing Mandatory Field
Detail
s in
Audited
Transactions
(4801277)
The REST tax calculation API currently returns generic null value error messages with a 400 Bad Request status when mandatory fields are missing in commit or audit transactions, rather than specifying the exact missing field. This will be improved in the next release.
Custom Rule:
Custom Rate Code Validation of Special Characters (4311889)
Creating or editing a custom Rate Code in Determination can bypass initial special character validation when switching Rate Types. This allows you to save codes that don't start with a numeric character as required. The update ensures Rate Code validation is enforced after every change, so all codes consistently start with a number.
