Import status

The
Detailed Status
and
Status
columns provide information about the success or failure of the import. The expected value in the
Status
column for the import types is Import Successful and there's no return associated with the data.

Read-only returns

If the return status is set to read-only, or if the e-filing status of a return is locked, an import to that return will fail with an import status of Error. The
Detailed Status
column provides additional details about read-only returns:
  • Read only return - data uploaded
indicates data was imported to the return while the return was in draft mode and was therefore editable. Data was added to the return and the return has since been made read-only. This status only appears if you attempt to re-run an import after the target return has been made read-only.
  • Read only return - data not uploaded
indicates data was imported to the return while the return was in read-only status, and data is not appended to the return. This status appears if you try to import data to a return that's already in read-only status. You can delete the import or defer imported transactions to a later period.
You can't add transactions to a read-only return or a return with a read-only e-filing status. If you try to add transactions to a read-only return, you'll get this error message:
Return/E-filing status is read only and you cannot add new transaction.
Similarly, an error occurs if you try to add a transaction to an entity and period associated with both read-only and editable returns. You can continue, but changes will apply to only the returns you can edit (not read-only).
One or more entities have returns with read only return/e-filing status and added changes to transactions will apply only to the non-read only returns of the entity. Do you wish to proceed?
In the case of multiple returns where not all returns are assigned with read-only status, the import will be partially successful.
To check the reason for failure, select the
Uploads
screen at the Entity level, which shows the
Import Status
as
Upload Failed
and
Detailed Status
as
Read only
.
To upload successfully, change the return status to draft from read only and then re-run the import.
