About product classification
Product Classification uses Generative AI to identify commodity or product codes within Determination tax content based on product data. Establishing this connection is essential to ensure the tax engine produces accurate results for the transactions it processes.
The Product Classification process differs from the historical Product Mapping in Determination (accessible via ). Product Mapping lets you store classification results directly within Determination. However, some customers may decide to manage this mapping externally within their own systems.

Product Classification currently supports only the Determination tax content maintained within the U.S. product tree, which follows UNSPSC standards.
