Legislative Updates

Thailand VAT return:
New tax codes were introduced to support the increased standard VAT rate of 10%. The return summary has been updated to incorporate the new rate. The new rate only applies to datasets created with start dates from 1 October 2023.
Romania VAT return:
Additional boxes 14.1 and 14.2 have been added to allow detailed reporting of exempt supplies. You must complete boxes in the Return Summary Analysis sheet . There are no changes to the main box for reporting exempt supplies in box 14, which is populated via tax code mappings.

Content Enhancements

Netherlands Intrastat:
Field Reference Number
was made optional for the purpose of e-filing to avoid unnecessary validation errors.
OSS returns: All EU jurisdictions can now be selected as Jurisdiction of Registration for OSS in the Company Information sheet. The default currency is Euro and it can be changed to a local currency on calculation level.
Bahrain: We updated the formula in group return summary to reflect correct tax rates in the total VAT amount calculation for box 1a.
VAT return PDF forms: New sheets were added under the
Main Return
section with the .pdf version of the VAT form. The form populates the values from Return Summary and Company Information sheet. In this release this has been added for Thailand.

E-Filing Updates

We are continuously expanding the e-filing coverage. The following returns and listings reports can now be exported in filing formats required for submission on the tax authority portals:
  • Slovenia VAT return – .xml format
  • Germany prepayments – xml format

API Automation Updates
We are enhancing our API automation suite based on customer feedback to fully automate their end-to-end compliance process. We will release more APIs to this end in the upcoming releases. If you are interested in licensing any of these APIs, contact your Thomson Reuters account team or the Customer Support line for more information.
JSON API imports:
The error message that appears when no line items are present in the API request has been improved. The new error message will read:
Entity Manager API:
  • We made updates to the Entity Manager API to let you establish nested entity hierarchies. These are tiered group structures that can be created in a single request.
  • Improved validations on key fields required for the Entity Manager API.
Import API compression:
The import API now includes compression support (GZip/Deflate).
Import statuses:
The developer portal has been updated to provide detailed information on the import statuses for different import types.
Return Status API:
This API lets you efficiently retrieve and update return statuses. This streamlines the workflow by letting users track and update returns efficiently and build processes to automate return status management.
Reports API:
We added business validations when running reports through the API:
  • Case 1 – End Date must fall after the Start Date
  • Case 2 – Parameter cannot be blank
  • Case 3 – Invalid input parameter format
Dataset API:
  • When you create datasets using the Datasets API, the Template ID field (which defines the correct template version to use for a given jurisdiction and period) is now optional.
  • This field was made optional because of enhancements in the
    Template ID
assignment logic. This parameter is not populated automatically based on the jurisdiction of the entity, the start date and the end date provided when creating the dataset.
  • You can still provide the template ID manually

General Updates

Returns
  • Improved Errors Screen: Enhanced error handling on the returns page. Now, even with a significant number of calculation errors within a return, the page loads seamlessly while accurately displaying error details ensuring smooth and efficient workflow.

  • Audit controls for returns: The
    Return Status
dropdown has been hidden when the e-filing status is set to Successful (Efile) or Locked. This enhances the audit controls in returns and prevent users from modifying the return status to an editable state or making further edits once the return has been submitted.
  • Date format standardization: We addressed an issue where date formats in return names were inconsistent with grid date formats when the locale was changed. Now, all returns screens maintain synchronized date formats, providing a seamless user experience.
  • Return UX – new indicator for data sync issues: We added a new indicator to the workbook, similar to the error count indicator, to notify users when there is a data sync issue between periodic and annual returns. This indicator shows the count of returns with sync problems. Hovering the cursor over the indicator displays a tooltip with additional steps. The indicator is visible only if sync issues exist, and disappears when the issues are resolved.
Reports
  • ONESOURCE Client Manager (OCM) Reports: We reviewed and updated all reports to ensure either ClientID or an Entity parameter is included in the report query
  • Reports Performance Improvement: Performance of the GL Transactional details report when extracting large volumes of data was enhanced.
Filters
  • Filtering on Returns Screen: The issue with filtering using the
    Created Date
field on the Returns screen has been resolved.
  • Filters tooltip: A tooltip was added to the option to filter by value to provide more information to users: The filter displays only the top 250 values from the total list of values. This means that only the first 250 values, based on the current filter, are shown. We implemented this change to ensure filter performance is fast and smooth. If the value users are seeking is not included in the first 250 results, more specific search values must be added.
Other Updates
  • Enhanced UX for Entity Group Manager: A new search bar was added in the Entity Manager to allow users to easily search within the Group Panel for entities. This update improves navigation and saves time for users when maintaining group structures.
  • Enhanced Customer Controls: Client administrators can now enable or disable the import warnings and rules. This was previously limited to admins.
ONESOURCE Client Manager (OCM) Enhancements
We updated maintenance of configurations at the organization/database level:
  • You can define import specifications at the master client level (sys_firm). All other clients in the same database inherit these specifications.
  • The import specifications defined at the client level are specific to that client, and do not affect other clients.
  • Users can only edit or delete cross-client import specifications at the master client level (sys_firm). For other clients, the edit and delete options are disabled. This feature is dependent on the setting
Enable configurations at the organization level
    and is disabled by default.
