Add an attachment to a return
You can attach supporting documentation of any file type to an individual cell in the calculations. There is no restriction on file size or the number of attachments, but data in the attachments cannot be linked to cells in the calculation. Adding an attachment to a calculation is similar to adding an attachment to an e-mail. You can also add a link to a website.
Attach a file to a return
- Open the return that will contain the attachment.
- Select the notes icon
from the toolbar, then select Add Attachmentfrom the list of options.
- Select theAdd Filebutton.
- Drag and drop the file into the window, or select theBrowse for Filebutton and navigate to the file location on your computer.
- Use the dropdown to indicate whether the file applies to only the cell or to the entire sheet.
- If you selectSheet, you have the option to allow the attachment to roll forward. Select theRoll Forward to Next Periodbox.
- Select theOKbutton.
Attach a link to a return
- Open the return that will contain the attachment.
- Select the note icon
from the toolbar, then select Add Attachmentfrom the list of options.
- Select theAdd Linkbutton.
- In theLink Namefield, enter a name to identify the link.

You must use the entire URL, including the
http://
prefix.- In theAddressfield, enter the URL. You can also add an optional comment in theCommentfield.
- Use the dropdown to indicate whether the link applies to only the cell or to the entire sheet.
- If you selectSheet, you have the option to allow the attachment to roll forward. Select theRoll Forward to Next Periodbox.
- Select theOKbutton.
Viewing or opening attachments or notes
A small paperclip icon in a cell or sheet indicates that an attachment has been added. Select the icon to open the attachment.
You can show the list of all attachments in a particular calculation:
- Open the calculation.
- Select the note icon
on the toolbar, then select Calculation Attachmentsfrom the list of options.
