Sales and Use Tax CoCounsel agents

Sales and Use Tax AI helps prevent breaks in the compliance process with automated configuration workflows.
Unreported tax agent
The Unreported Tax Agent identifies situations where tax-relevant transactions exist in your ledgers, but no corresponding tax return is configured to report that tax. This matters because tax can be accrued but never reported, creating a compliance risk that many organizations only uncover during an audit. The agent automatically detects and resolves these unreported tax conditions and raises a task in the Protocol Dashboard for customer's review and action.
New/Missing entity agent
The New/Missing Entity Agent detects entities (such as legal entities or company codes) that appear in the uploaded data but are not yet configured in ONESOURCE. Missing entities can trigger “Entity not found” errors, disrupt smooth processing, and are a common configuration gap when organizations add or acquire entities. The agent flags these issues and creates or configures them so processing can continue, and helps reduce delays and rework caused by incomplete setup.
New/Missing business locations agent
The New/Missing Business Locations Agent detects new business locations in your data (such as new stores, warehouses, or offices) that aren't yet configured in ONESOURCE. Unconfigured locations can lead to incorrect reporting in tax returns, and business expansion often outpaces tax configuration unless it is actively monitored.
This agent identifies new locations as they appear in transaction data and either configures them within the workflow or skips them based on the following rules. It then lists out tasks for customers to review.
  • Detection:
The agent scans the import file for any new business location codes.
  • Verification:
It verifies if there's already at least 1 business location configured in OSU for that state.
  • Action:
    • If a location already exists for that state: The agent automatically creates and adds the new location.
    • If no location exists for that state: The agent skips creating it and generates a task for manual user review.
Tax credit resolution agent
The Tax Credit Resolution Agent automatically identifies tax credits by tax authority or combined tax area and business location, and automatically suspends them to help prevent negative reporting. It maintains a record of all suspended credits and automatically applies them in the future once there is a sufficient tax payable balance for the corresponding tax authority or tax area and business location.
note
The agent provides a comprehensive list of tasks related to the automatic suspension and subsequent application of tax credits, letting customers review, approve, or override the agent's actions as needed.
