Review and finalization of tax returns

The
Returns
view shows all tax returns impacted by a given protocol run. Returns are grouped into 4 tabs:
  1. Action required
  2. Ready to review
  3. Ready to file
  4. Filed

Action required

This tab lists returns that:
  • Have 1 or more agentic tasks associated with them
  • Require customer review and approval before they can move forward
Customers should:
  1. Drill back into related tasks.
  2. Complete all required reviews and approvals to move returns to
    Ready to review
    state.
Customers can generate and download a PDF version of the return for review if needed.

Ready to review

This tab lists returns that are ready to be reviewed. Returns appear here if:
  • All associated agentic tasks have been reviewed and approved, or
  • The returns only have routine automated tasks with no pending customer approvals
From this tab, customers can:
  • Open and review the tax returns
  • Print returns to PDF for offline or detailed review
  • Mark returns as
    Ready to file
    once their review is complete
When a return is marked
Ready to file
, its status is updated accordingly and it moves into the filing queue. Customers can mark individual returns as ready to file or do it in bulk by selecting multiple returns and selecting the option
Mark as ready to file
from the
Actions
dropdown. The same applies to other options such as generate PDFs and e-files.

Ready to file

This tab displays all tax returns that are ready for filing. Returns appear on this tab after all required reviews and approvals are completed by customers for the returns. From this tab, customers can:
  • Open and review the tax returns
  • Print returns to PDF for offline or detailed review
  • Generate an e-file for supported returns
  • After e-file generation, if transmission is supported in OSU, the
    E-file Return
    column will display
    Transmittable
    .
  • Download the e-file for manual submission or transmit directly to the tax authorities using
    Actions
    Transmit e-file
    (when available)
  • Mark returns as
    Filed
once they've been submitted to tax authorities

Filed

This tab shows all returns that have been filed. Returns move to this tab via:
  • Automatic movement
    when:
    • An e-file extract is generated, and
    • The return is directly transmitted to the tax authority using the
      Transmit
option (if supported by OSU for that jurisdiction)
  • Manual movement
    when:
    • Only print is supported for that jurisdiction
    • An e-file extract is generated, and
    • A customer manually marks the return as
      Filed
after submitting it to the authority
note
The
Filed
tab serves as a historical record of completed filings per protocol run.
