State e-file requirements

The system creates tax returns in a format suitable for electronic filing. Some states have specific requirements for e-file.

Requirements
Alabama
You must be a registered taxpayer with a valid tax account number and valid EFT account to be eligible for the Online Filing system. Taxpayers who need to register with the ADOR for an account number should complete Form COM:101, then print, sign, and mail to ADOR. Taxpayers who need to register with the ADOR for EFT should complete Form EFT:001, then print, sign, and mail or fax (1-334-242-0251) to ADOR.
Alaska Locals
ARSSTR, Alaska Remote Sellers Sales Tax Return
Before you start filing you must first register with the Alaska Remote Sellers Sales Tax Commission (ARSSTC). All applications, tax returns and remittances are to be filed and paid electronically to ARSSTC at their website: https://arsstc.munirevs.com/
Arizona
Before you file electronically, you must contact the State of Arizona. Call the AZTaxes Help Desk at 602-255-3381 for information.
Arkansas
Before you can begin filing online, you must be a registered taxpayer with the Department of Finance and Administration. To register to collect sales and or report use tax, contact Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration at 501-682-7104 or visit their web site for more information about Sales Tax: http://www.arkansas.gov/dfa/excise_tax_v2/st_index.html.
To file your ET-1 Excise Tax Return using Online Sales and Excise Tax Filing, you need Internet access with at least Internet Explorer version 7 or higher, Mozilla Firefox version 3 or higher, Apple Safari version 3 or higher, and Google Chrome version 4 or higher.
California
To file electronically, you must be a registered taxpayer with the State of California. For information on registration and requirements for filing your sales and use tax return, go to https://www.cdtfa.ca.gov/services/#Register-Renewals.
Colorado
Before you can file online, you must be a registered taxpayer and must have previously submitted at least one paper return to the Department of Revenue in the past.
Taxpayers filing electronically are also required to pay electronically. If you choose to pay by EFT, your account number will be included in the file. If you do not use EFT, you will be directed to an online tax payment page at the time you upload your file, where you will provide banking information to complete the transaction.

Georgia
You must be a registered taxpayer to use Georgia eFile & Pay System. If you need to register, use your Personal Identification Number (PIN), State Tax Identifier Number (STI), and/or tax-specific identification number(s) to access the system. If you did not receive your PIN in the mail, contact the Georgia Department of Revenue at 877-423-6711.
Louisiana
R-1029, Louisiana Department of Revenue Sales Tax Return
Before you use the ONESOURCE Sales and Use Tax Compliance automated electronic tax return transmittal feature, you must first register with the State. Call Louisiana Electronic Help Desk at (225) 219-2490 and ask for the Electronic Filing Coordinator if you have any problems or questions and before you start filing electronic tax return files with the State.
RSSTR, Louisiana Remote Sellers Sales Tax Return
Before you start filing you must first register with the State. All applications, tax returns and remittances are to be filed and paid electronically to Louisiana Sales and Use Tax Commission for Remote Sellers at their website: https://remotesellers.louisiana.gov/
Utah
To file online, you must be a registered taxpayer with the State of Utah. For information on registration and requirements for filing your sales and use tax return using Utah TAP (Utah’s Taxpayer Access Point) go to https://tap.tax.utah.gov/TaxExpress.
The file extension for the UT file is XLS and the transmitter method is 3.
Washington
Before you can begin filing online, you must be a registered taxpayer with Washington State Department of Revenue. You can register to collect sales tax and or report use tax using My DOR which is Washington’s secure portal for all online services. To access the Business licensing Section of the Department of Revenue go to http://bls.dor.wa.gov/.
To access your account in My DOR you will need a Secure Access Washington (SAW) login.

Wisconsin
Before you file online, you must be a registered taxpayer with Wisconsin Department of Revenue. To register to collect sales tax and or report use tax, contact Wisconsin Department of Revenue at 608-266-2776.
You also must register with the Wisconsin EFT Registration and Payment System when either filing or paying and filing your Wisconsin Sales and Use tax return via Sales File Transmission process. You can contact the state at 608-264-9918 or fill in the on-line form at: http://www.dor.state.wi.us/eserv/eft1.html for personalized EFT registration materials. You can also refer Wisconsin Publication 129 for the details.
