Import file specifications
The first step for using Locations Import is to prepare a source file. To do this, you must have an import file that contains the information needed by the application to create Location records. All records in the import source file must have the identical layout and each record must contain all the required data elements. Listed below are the required and optional data elements for this file.

- If a required data element's missing or any data element's invalid, the location won't import.
- Length indicates the maximum number of characters allowed for the data element to be valid.
- Fields don't have to be in a set order in the import file.
- File format's comma delimited .csv.
- Each record must be terminated with a carriage return line feed.
- Dates must be in the correct specified format.
- If Reporting Location Code field's blank, Import process defaults field to data from the Business Location Code field.
- When assigning a Reporting Location Code, the business location code that's being assigned as the reporting location code must already exist in Locations. Therefore, if the reporting location's also being created with the same import file as the locations reporting as the reporting location code; the order of the import records is relevant. The record for the reporting location must be above the records of the other locations being assigned to it. For example: LOC #1001, LOC #2002, and LOC #3003 all report as LOC #4004. The record for LOC #4004 must be above the records for the other locations in the import file.
