State notes

All the following changes were incorporated into the returns and accompanying schedules for that state or locale. Listed changes are effective February 1, 2025, unless noted otherwise.
Alabama Locals
  • Chilton County changed administration from Avenu/RDS to ADOR.
  • Jefferson County updated the local self-administered forms for Sales, Sellers Use and Consumer Use Returns to make them 2 pages instead of 1 page per form. Page 2 is now available for all 3 forms, and has details for deductions.
  • Jefferson County released a further updated form for their Consumer Use Return that will include a separate line for food/grocery tax; however our deadline for development had already passed when they published this change. The Jefferson County Consumer Use Return will be adjusted in our next release to have a separate line for food/grocery taxes.
Louisiana 2024 Third Extraordinary Sessions of the LA Legislature
A special session was held by the Louisiana Legislature that requires all parishes to report both prescription drugs and manufacturing machinery and equipment on a separate line item of their return. Additionally, the vendor’s compensation discount has been repealed for all parishes. These changes will be reflected in subsequent releases of ONESOURCE Sales and Use Tax as the individual parishes make their updated tax returns reflecting the previous changes available.

Tax rate changes

All tax rate changes noted here were incorporated into the application. Listed changes are effective February 1, 2025, unless noted otherwise.
Alaska locals
The city of Napaskiak imposed a remote seller tax rate of 3.000%.
Iowa

Application updates

Key release highlights
  • Business challenge:
A detailed ledger is used quite frequently by the customers, but there is no unique identifier that refers to exactly 1 record in that ledger.
    • Solution:
OSU enables the customers to identify each ledger record using ‘Ledger Id’.
    • Product updates:
A new field ‘Ledger Id’ is added to the grid of the detailed ledger, to the immediate left of the ‘Journal Id’ field.
  • Business challenge:
Batch processes are getting stuck when there are duplicate entities in the batch template.
    • Solution:
OSU completes the batch processes even if there are duplicate entities in the selected batch.
    • Product updates:
OSU batch processing is enhanced to ensure that the batch processes will be completed without getting stuck, even if there are duplicate entities.
  • UI enhancements
    The
    Template Maintenance
tools screen now features a navigation menu on the left, with the active menu highlighted in amber.
    Key benefits:
    The navigation of the
    Template Maintenance
menu will be the same as how it is for Content Tools, maximizing the consistency in the customer experience.
Ledger updates
  • A new field ‘Ledger Id’ is added to the Detailed Ledger at binder-level.
  • Key Benefits: This new field on that ledger will serve as a unique identifier for each record of that ledger.
Processes View and Dashboard updates
  • On step-1 of the batch processing screen, selecting any of the old batches is intermittently loading duplicate entities, due to which the customer can select the same entity multiple times. Batch processing is enhanced to ensure that such processes are completed without getting stuck in processing.
    • Key Benefits: The batch process will be completed successfully even if there are duplicate entities in the previous selection.
  • The process log of binder-level and work area-level processes are enhanced so that the description of each log entry in the process log is more verbose. Also, more log entries are added in those process logs.
    Key Benefits:
    • Verbose log entry descriptions will be more informative to the customers.
    • More log entries are added to improve the granularity of how the process is progressing to completion.

TN – SLS 450, Sales and Use Tax Return
The Tennessee Department of Revenue (TNDOR) released a new version of the SLS-450 that includes changes to Schedule B, Schedule C, Schedule E and a new Schedule I for February due to newly enacted legislation on Davidson County and the city of Hendersonville. Due to the state's late release and the complex nature of changes, we are still testing with the state. Withhold TN e-file submissions until after the February interim release scheduled for March 7, 2025.
